CA. Child killed in SUV rollover

January 13, 2006

A two-year old child was killed near Palm Spring, California in an SUV rollover accident caused by tire blowout. A woman was traveling down the highway with four children in her vehicle. As she struggled to get the two-year-old back in his car seat, the SUV's tire blew out and SUV rollover ensued. The young child was found outside of the vehicle when law enforcement arrived. The other three children suffered back and neck injuries.

According to the police report, excessive speeding and tire blowout are the suspected causes of the fatal SUV rollover accident. By the end of the SUV rollover, three of the vehicle's four tires had been separated from the vehicle and the SUV remained on its side where it finally came to rest.

SUV rollover accidents are incredibly dangerous, especially when children are involved. Official estimates show that rollover is at least three times more likely in an SUV than in a passenger vehicle. Recent studies have also shown that SUVs fail to provide increased protection to drivers and passengers, despite widespread misconceptions about these large vehicles. If you or a loved one has been injured in an SUV rollover, you may be eligible to seek compensation for your losses and suffering.
