Ford recently settled a suit filed against them by a man who was seriously injured in a Ford Aerostar.
According to the suit the man is now confined to a wheelchair after the roof of the minivan caved in on him when the car rolled over.
Sudden Crash
Julian Felipe was only a teenager when the car crashed in 2002.
Felipe's mother, Mirtha, was driving the car when a tire reportedly blew out, causing her to lose control and the van to roll over.
According to reports, Julian was riding in the passenger seat and was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the accident.
However, the roof of the Aerostar crushed down on him, causing him to suffer from spinal injuries and paralysis of the legs.
Suit Filed Against Ford
The suit alleged that Ford was aware of the mini van's tendencies to rollover after a tire blowout.
"The automaker put profits over people in building the 1993 minivan with insufficient roof strength," claimed Julian's attorney, Ervin A. Gonzalez.
Ford specialists took the stand in the case stating that for decades this has been a problem and the company was aware that people past a certain height were at risk for neck injuries in a van or truck rollover.
"As designed, the seat belt would give and not hold the passenger firmly in place during a rollover incident," stated the complaint.
"The automaker put profits over people in building the 1993 minivan with insufficient roof strength," stated Felipe's attorney, Ervin A. Gonzalez.
