GM Recalls 400K Trucks

May 2, 2006

Last Friday, General Motors Corp. announced the recall of nearly half a million pickup trucks because of defective brake lights and other problems.

The GM trucks affected by the recall include:

  2004-2006 Chevrolet Colorado

  2004-2006 GMC Canyon

  2006 Isuzu i-280 and i-350

According to GM, these affected models may lose brake-lamp functioning permanently or have brake-lamps that are always on. On those models equipped with cruise control, this feature may also fail to function.

This GM truck recall was prompted by three consumer complaints to the company regarding these problems.

As part of the recall, GM dealers will replace the brake-lamp switch in any affected vehicles at no cost to the consumer.

GM says they've received no reports of injuries caused by this vehicle defect.
