General Motors Sued by Maimed Driver

September 14, 2006

A liability lawsuit was recently filed against automotive giant, General Motors, by a man left maimed after a near head-on car crash.

William Arnold claims that his 1989 GMC Cheyenne pickup truck failed to provide him with adequate protection in his collision with a 2000 Dodge Neon almost four years ago.

According to Arnold's complaint, the accident resulted in many severe injuries, including the amputation of his left leg, numerous broken bones, blood clots, head trauma, and a heart attack. He claims he is still confined to a wheelchair.

The complaint accuses GM of marketing the Cheyenne while "knowing it had inadequate structural protection, and placed the occupants . involved in frontal or frontal offset collisions at high risk."

The suit also claims that GM had alternative designs that were both feasible and more crashworthy.

Arnold and his wife, Jane, are pursuing liability damages against GM. They are also seeking damages from Pamela Eckert, the driver of the Neon.
