GM recalls Buick Skylarks due to fire hazards.GM recalled 778,000 of their vehicles, including the Buick Skylark after three injuries were reported from electrical fires.

A man was awarded $5.5 million after he was paralyzed because of a defective seat belt in his 1989 Buick Regal. The mans seat belt gave too much slack when he leaned forward and when the Buick crashed into another vehicle his body flew as if unrestrained.

GM recalls Buicks with defective air bags.

September 11, 2000

GM recalled about 270,000 Buicks and Oldsmobiles because of the driver air bags that may fire unexpectedly because of corrosion in the inflator. GM claims there have been 115 inadvertent air bag deployments that had injured about 60 people.

Depowered Buick airbags cause injuries.

The NHTSA is investigating a 1998 Buick Regal crash that resulted in rib fractures and heart laceration of the driver. The investigation is looking at if depowered airbags were to blame for the resulting injuries.

GM is linked to the worst latches in crashes.

GMs Buick Century has an 11% latch failure rate and is 3 times more likely than most of the 67 other car groups studied in the NHTSA analysis to fail. The investigation was performed on more than 11,000 highway crashes.
