General Motors Corp. has announced it is recalling 717,302 minivans because passengers could hurt their arms or wrists when opening a power sliding door, according to U.S. safety regulators.
The vehicles affected by the GM recall are Chevrolet Ventures and Pontiac Montana minivans from the 1997 to 1999 model years, as well as Pontiac Trans Sports from the 1997 to 1999 model years.

A man was awarded $5.5 million after he was paralyzed because of a defective seat belt in his 1989 Buick Regal. The mans seat belt gave too much slack when he leaned forward and when the Buick crashed into another vehicle his body flew as if unrestrained.

GM recalled about 270,000 Buicks and Oldsmobiles because of the driver air bags that may fire unexpectedly because of corrosion in the inflator. GM claims there have been 115 inadvertent air bag deployments that had injured about 60 people.
