GMC Recalls

GMC recalls 1999 Chevrolet T series trucks.

March 1, 2002

NHTSA reported that GMC has recalled about 1,530 affected 1999 Chevrolet T series trucks. The recalled Chevrolets were manufactured between September 1998 and August 2000 because of a condition of premature wear in the clutch master-cylinder pushrod end that attaches to the clutch pedal pin. If the GMC clutch pedal does not return completely to the full-up position this may indicate future problems because the fast-idle engine speed control may not function correctly. Significant clutch master-cylinder pushrod end wear can lead to the attaching end to bend open or even break completely off and the pedal pin will detach from the clutch rod link and engage the clutch. If this occurs, when brakes are not applied the GMC truck could move forward if the transmission is in a forward gear or move backwards if the transmission is in reverse gear. The GMC Chevrolet owners will be notified beginning April.
